CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
The Permanent Commission formed by: Mr Hans Hoegner (Chairman), Mr Antonio Martin Galan, Mr Ruben Martinez and Mrs Enza Jacoponi has been called to approve the championship of the European Union.
***********************************************************************
PROTOCOL FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE "EUROPEAN UNION"
1. The titles of the European Union would be under the jurisdiction of the European Boxing Union (EBU), with its own competition rules and under the supervision of the Executive Committee and its President.
2. The Executive Committee will designate, from its own members, a Commission formed by three persons who will, together with the General Secretary and the President of the EBU, comprise the permanent monitoring and control Commission for the titles of the European Union. All the members will have full voting rights including the Secretary General, and the President will have the deciding vote in case of equality of votes.
3. The National Championships in the European Union Countries will have right and just refusal in disputing the titles of the European Union.
4. The bouts of the European Union will be disputed on the distance of 10 Rounds.
5. To be eligible to take part in a European Union bouts the boxers must be a citizen of one of the 15 EU member Countries and also be in possession of a licence issued by the corresponding Federation.
6. Even if a boxer is holder of a licence issued by one of the European Union Member States, if he does not possess documents which can accredit citizenship of the European Union -identity card or passport- he will not be authorised to take part in that Championship bout.
7. Those boxers proclaimed European Union Champions will be eligible for inclusion in the (EBU) European Boxing Union ratings.
8. The European Union title bouts will be officiated by one Referee and three Judges:
- the referee and two judges to be nominated by the European Boxing Union (EBU) General Secretary from the Officials of the EBU list
- the third judge will be appointed by the Federation of the Country where the bout is to be held from among the most outstanding and the most experienced, whose performance will be evaluated in order for them to became, in the future, Ring Officials of the European Union.
9. The Supervisor will be appointed by the EBU General Secretary from among its members as it is the procedure for the EBU bouts. When a title of the European Union is held in a non-European Union Member State in which there is a member of the Executive Committee, he will be the Supervisor for said bout, thus reducing the cost of these Championships.
10. The titles of the European Union will come into force on 1st January 2002
11. The promoter will pay the European Boxing Union (EBU) the following fees:
2000 Euro for the Championship bout
250 Euro for the belt
The promoter will pay the Officials and the Supervisor, in addition to the travel - board and accommodation expenses as it is for the EBU titles, the following amounts:
500 Euro for the Referee & for the Judges (each)
250 Euro for the Supervisor
12. The European Union Champion Belt will be given to the European Union Champion in the ring and will be paid for by the promoter.
13. The titles of the European Union, which will be approved by the General Assembly to be held in June 2002 in Italy, will be conducted for the time being according to these regulations, and after this time the details of the titles will be revised so as to make those changes deemed appropriate in the light of the experience acquired and so as to enhance the organisation of these titles.
The championships for the European Union titles could be disputed also by boxers residing at least 10 years (uninterruptedly) in a Country of the European Union but not in possession of the Nationality. The Federation of the Country of the European Union, from which the boxer has the licence, will be responsible to confirm the position of such a boxer.
Of course the authorisation to dispute the fight will be always to the discretion of the Special Commission.
